Piedmont Airlines Safety Internships
Description: The Piedmont Airlines Safety Department is pleased to offer two on-going internship opportunities for Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. Currently, we are able to offer the successful candidates wages of $8.00 plus space available flight benefits during their internship. This would prove to be a valuable experience for anyone interested in pursuing a career in aviation safety. As a regional carrier safety department, we are able to offer the intern exposure to all aspects of an airline safety department. One position will be based in Harrisburg, PA and the other will be based in our Salisbury, MD corporate headquarters location.
Piedmont Airlines, Inc. operates as an US Airways Express carrier and is a wholly owned subsidiary of US Airways. As a wholly-owned carrier for US Airways, Piedmont Airlines is an integral part of the company. Piedmont operates nearly 490 daily departures to 55 cities throughout the eastern United States and Canada. We currently operate 55 deHavilland DHC-8 turbo prop aircraft. As an intern, the individual will become involved in the day-to-day management of the airlines’ safety programs. This includes interacting and gaining knowledge of employee safety concerns. Also, the intern will assist in the achieving of the corporate mission of providing a safe environment for employees and customers.

Position Summary:
To provide an Engineering Intern an opportunity to observe, practice skills, work with systems and gain exposure to technical processes in order to broaden the learning level required for future on the job performance. Provide analysis and analytical support to management on both strategic and tactical decisions.
Responsibilities:
• Exposure to system design reviews, documentation and compliance procedures for DC 10/MD 11 aircraft with regard to Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System EGPWS.
• Exposure to system design reviews, documentation and compliance procedures for DC 10/MD 11 aircraft with regard to Air/Ground Communication system (APEX).
• Exposure to standard tracking system and documentation for incorporation of service bulletins related to surge/stall prevention (GE) and (P &W) engines.
• Trend monitoring exposure with regards to reliability
Expectations:
Interns are expected to observe basic company rules which include a schedule of (8a to 5p) with one hour for lunch. Interns should not be in the workplace beyond 40 hours in the workweek.

Description: Please let interested aviation students know that I am looking for a student intern. Preferably a sophomore or junior. 10 to 15 hours a week. Job involves:
• researching noise complaints using flight tracking software;
• preparing reports about flight operations;
• assisting with public relations activities;
• assisting with preparation of the Airport Master Plan;
