Hecksel-Sutherland Scholarship – Awarded to select women with an interest in aviation

Ninety-Nines, the international organization of women pilots is the oldest organization devoted to
women in aviation. The organization’s mission is to promote the advancement of aviation through
education, scholarships, and mutual support while honoring our unique history and sharing our
passion for flight. The members of the Michigan Chapter of Ninety-Nines are part of a world-wide
organization of approximately 4000 members.

The Michigan Chapter of 99s is excited to be able to offer the Hecksel-Sutherland scholarship to
women who are interested in all aspects of aviation. The chapter began working towards the
scholarship in 1997, and had begun planning it before that. 2013 will mark the third time the
scholarship will be awarded. The amount of the award may be $2000.00.
