Jerry Chubb is an associate professor teaching courses in safety, simulation, and human factors. He has over 35 years of experience in human factors engineering and served as the original systems engineer for the Flight Training Curriculum Work Package on the NASA Advanced General Aviation Transport Experiments (AGATE) program. After serving as business manager for the FAA Airworthiness Assurance Center of Excellence (AACE), he then served 18 months as director of Flight Education at Ohio State. He is now engaged in research on cockpit layout and display design, economic impact analysis of SATS, and an information requirements study to provide better support to FAA aviation safety inspectors. Dr. Chubb is president-elect of the University Aviation Association.

Jim Oppermann teaches courses in the Aviation Management curriculum. Before coming to Ohio State, he supervised the Hub operations of America West Airlines in Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Oppermann also coordinates Aviation Internships, Employment Opportunities, the NetJets Scholarships, and is the Advisor to the Aviation fraternity. Weather permitting, you'll find him on his motorcycle.

An aeronautical/astronautical engineer and attorney, Stacy Weislogel joined the Department of Aviation faculty in 1968, progressing to the rank of professor in 1979. He served as Chairman, Department of Aviation, 1982-90, and Associate Dean for Administration and Planning, College of Engineering, 1990-2006. He retired in 2006 and was awarded emeritus faculty status. He has served as President of the University Aviation Association, Chairman of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics General Aviation Systems Technical Committee, and was a member of the U.S. Department of Transportation Blue Ribbon Panel on the future of pilot employment. He received the United Airlines Wheatley Award for outstanding contributions to aerospace education and was named the FAA Central Region Educator of the Year. He holds the FAA airline transport pilot and flight instructor certificates. His active memberships include the AABI, ABA, AIAA, AOPA, ASEE, ISASI, LPBA, NAFI, SETP, and UAA.

Chuck Patterson is the academic advisor for the Aviation Department. Before coming to Ohio State, he was academic advisor at Miami University and the University of Missouri. While at Missouri, he helped develop one of the first academic support programs designed to increase the graduation rates of student-athletes.

Doug Hammon is Director of The Ohio State University Airport, and serves as a lecturer in both Airport Management and Airport Planning & Design. Before becoming the Director of the University Airport, he worked as an Aviation Planner with the Ohio Department of Transportation, served as a transportation engineer, and managed an up-and-coming general aviation airport. He began his career in aviation as a student assistant in the avionics shop at the airport he now leads. Doug holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aviation, as well as Master’s Degrees in both City & Regional Planning and Civil Engineering, all from The Ohio State University. He is a licensed private pilot; currently serves as the President of the Ohio Aviation Association; and is a member of the Columbus Chamber’s Small Business Council, the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission’s Technical Advisory Committee, and other professional organizations.
