Weislogel, Stacy

Biography

Stacy Weislogel is Professor Emeritus of Aviation, having retired from The Ohio State University in 2006.  A 1962 graduate in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering, he also holds the MS and JD degrees.  Joining the OSU Department of Aviation in 1968 after positions with General Dynamics/Astronautics and with Landrum and Brown Airport and Aviation Consultants, he progressed to the rank of full professor in 1979, and served as Chairman, Department of Aviation (1982-1990), as Associate Dean (1990-2006), and Interim Dean (1992) in the College of Engineering.  He developed and taught courses on the national aviation system, flight instruction methodology, airplane performance, flight test engineering, and legal aspects of aviation.  During 1993-2006 he was Transportation Research Center of Ohio board secretary.  He is a registered professional engineer and licensed attorney in Ohio; member of AABI, AIAA (Associate Fellow), AOPA, ISASI, LPBA, QB, SETP, UAA; recipient of the the FAA Award for Excellence in Aviation Education, the United Airlines Award for Outstanding Contributions to Aerospace Education, the University Aviation Association (UAA) President's Award for Leadership and Distinguished Service to Collegiate Aviation, and the UAA Champion of Aviation Award; and is inscribed on the National Air and Space Museum Wall of Honor; has served as chairman of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics General Aviation Systems Technical Committee, and UAA President; has served on national task forces addressing aviation matters, and as a principal investigator on FAA, NASA, and general aviation industry sponsored projects; is an FAA certificated airman - ATP, CFI(ASMEL, Instrument), A&IGI.   Following retirement he has voluntarily served several aviation organizations, including the Ohio Aerospace and Aviation Council, the NetJets Family Foundation Board, and has conducted independent research on university aviation matters reported to the UAA.  He has served on the OSU Center for Aviation Studies Oversight Committee and as Secretary of the OSU Aviation Alumni Society.
