2017: A Year of Two Anniversaries

Posted:

For 100 years The Ohio State University has been providing collegiate aviation curriculum to students pursuing a wide range of careers in the industry. On May 21, 1917 the School of Aeronautics opened and welcomed 16 cadets from the U.S. War Department as students.

Aviation students at Ohio State trained on and around main campus until the Board of Trustees purchased property in northwest Columbus in order to build an airport. On November 5, 1942 the first airplane landed at The Ohio State University Airport.
